The Portland Sea Dogs picked up a win at Hadlock Field, knocking off the Binghamton Mets, 4-3. Starting pitcher Sukejuro Takeuchi was a big reason why. Dave Lavington notched his 16th save in 17 chances. With the win over Binghamton, the Sea Dogs improved to 35-40.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Dou-wan Chin was at the plate when Portland scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Sea Dogs to go in front, 4-3.

"Ah," said Chin in a jubilant clubhouse, "the sweet smell of victory!."
