Rock Cats Improve to 41-26 with 7-1 Win
|
The New Britain Rock Cats went home winners at New Britain Stadium, thanks in large part to starter Bob Bennett. Bennett stifled the Akron RubberDucks, enabling New Britain to grab the 7-1 win. The last-place RubberDucks have lost 5 straight games.
Gil Greggio had a big bases-clearing double for the Rock Cats in the bottom of the fifth inning. With New Britain leading 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Walt Ashley, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2023 draft, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rock Cats ahead, 6-1.
"Bob is tough when he's hitting his spots," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall.
