The Richmond Flying Squirrels had to overcome a big game from Erie center fielder Jimmy Hoffman to leave Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium with a victory. And they did, winning, 5-4. Hoffman went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times. Richmond is now 29-33, while Erie is 38-24.

Had Jorge Morales not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Morales hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Flying Squirrels.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Morales.
