Hawkins Clubs 2 Home Runs in 4-3 New Britain Win
The New Britain Rock Cats topped the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 4-3, at New Britain Stadium. New Britain first baseman Darrell Hawkins was a spark plug for the offense. He slugged 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Reliever Chris Godwin picked up the win. His record improves to 1-0. Steve Reid, who is tied for 6th in the EL in innings pitched with 82.0, took the loss. The first-place Rock Cats have won 7 straight.

New Britain left fielder Mario Díaz helped the Rock Cats go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Díaz hit a run-scoring single off New Hampshire pitcher Steve Reid.

"We've been playing some good baseball," Díaz told the New Britain Today. "We're aggressive and focused on what we're going to do on the field and getting it done."
