Rock Cats Shimmy Past Flying Squirrels, 11-10
The New Britain Rock Cats weathered an outstanding game by Richmond third baseman Ken Evans to topple the Flying Squirrels, 11-10. Evans was 3-5 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 4 and driving in 3. The winner was New Britain reliever Ernesto Sánchez, now 1-0. The loser was Bob Gordon. The triumph puts New Britain at 31-25 for the season.

New Britain used the clutch hitting of Kevin Jackson to capture the win. The shortstop drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the 12th inning to give the Rock Cats the lead, 11-10. For the game, Jackson had 1 single and 2 doubles in 7 at-bats.

"We've got some hairy guys on our side, too," said New Britain manager Gary Kendall.
