The Las Vegas 51s locked up a win at Cashman Field, knocking off the El Paso Chihuahuas, 3-1. On the mound for Las Vegas was right-hander José Ferrer. He played a major role in the triumph. Ferrer picked up the win for Las Vegas, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 5-4. Jarrod Wilson finished the game for Las Vegas and earned his 18th save.
In the bottom of the 5th, Las Vegas took the lead on a 2-run single by Ken Lawson. At the time, the 51s were trailing 1-0, but Lawson's hit with two outs against El Paso pitcher Ángelo Roldán put them in front, 2-1.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Lawson.
Las Vegas's record now stands at 68-71, placing them second in the Pacific Conference South Division.
