The Colorado Springs Sky Sox faced a tough opponent in Fresno pitcher Bob Johnson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Chukchansi Park by a final score of 2-1. Johnson went 7 innings and allowed no runs. The winner was Colorado Springs reliever Ken Greenwood, now 3-4. The loser was Thom Stevens. Cedric Young was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 4 of 8 save opportunities.
Colorado Springs used the timely hitting of Juan Castillo to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Sky Sox on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We take it day by day here," said Castillo, "and today was a good one for us."
The Sky Sox win now puts them at 62-74.
