River Cats Score Late to Win, 5-3
|
Tacoma got a decent performance from pitcher Norberto Martínez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sacramento River Cats. Sacramento won the Cheney Stadium contest, 5-3. Martínez threw 8.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Sacramento reliever Dave White picked up the win to move to 3-1. Wes Poe suffered the loss. Sacramento is now 56-73, while Tacoma is 64-65.
Bob Taylor came through with a big-time hit for Sacramento. The pinch hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"I had a good game," said Taylor. "Winning makes it even better."
