Sky Sox Handle Round Rock, Snag 6-1 Win

Wet weather did not postpone the Colorado Springs-Round Rock ballgame.
Colorado Springs Sky Sox starter Juan Mercado turned a whale of an effort into a win over the Round Rock Express. The final score was 6-1, Colorado Springs. The winning pitcher was Mercado, now 5-7. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 5.
Damian Meade had a big run-scoring double for the Sky Sox in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Colorado Springs leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from Mike Miller and swatted a double to left. It was his 22nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sky Sox ahead, 3-1.
"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Meade.
The setback makes Round Rock 49-56.
