Starting pitcher Drew Smyly had a solid game. He was a big reason the Nashville Sounds throttled the Sacramento River Cats, 7-2. The first-place Sounds have won 4 in a row.

Nashville used a timely hit from Michael Conforto to get the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Sounds ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"You could tell Drew had an idea about where the ball was going and what he was trying to do," said Nashville manager Steve Scarsone.
