The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
The Omaha Storm Chasers rode a solid performance from 30-year-old starting pitcher Ken Walker to a win, beating the Memphis Redbirds, 5-2, at Werner Park. Walker picked up the win for Omaha, going 8 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. He now sports a record of 8-9.
Jimmy Reeves had a big 2-run double for the Storm Chasers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Omaha leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a slider from Julius Cooper, who is tied for 6th in the AC in complete games with 3, and swatted a double to right. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Storm Chasers ahead, 4-1.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Omaha skipper Rajai Davis.
The win makes Omaha 48-53.
