Dodgers Suffer 3-1 Road Loss
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Round Rock Express and the Oklahoma City Dodgers, pitcher Mike Miller was the difference between victory and defeat. The Round Rock left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Express win. Miller, now 9-8, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. The last-place Express have a record of 45-51.
António Ríos had a big solo home run for the Express in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Round Rock leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from 27-year old right-handed pitcher Chris Watts and punished it. The result was his 2nd home run of the season, which put the Express on top, 3-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Round Rock manager Ben Petrick said.
