Tacoma got a strong outing from Augusto Díaz as the Rainiers defeated the Fresno Grizzlies, 3-1, at Cheney Stadium. The winner was Díaz. He threw 6.2 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was Erling Moreno. Alfredo Jiménez, credited with the save, is now 4 for 5 in save opportunities.

Travis Nelligan had a big run-scoring triple for the Rainiers in the bottom of the third inning. With Tacoma leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a curveball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Erling Moreno and swatted a triple to center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainiers ahead, 2-0.

Tacoma manager Mario Garza called it "a darn good win."
