Tacoma got a decent performance from pitcher Norberto Martínez, but it wasn't enough to beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox. Colorado Springs won the Security Service Field contest, 3-2. Martínez threw 8.1 innings of 7-hit ball for the losing team. Ron McKinney snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit over 3.2 innings. He's now 1-1 on the season. Colorado Springs has now won 3 in a row.
Yeyson Yrizarri was the walk-off hero for Colorado Springs. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Sky Sox third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Tacoma manager Mario Garza.
