Starting pitcher Octávio Rangel pitched well enough to help the Salt Lake Bees beat the Tacoma Rainiers, 5-3. Rangel, now 4-7, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. Dave Jones, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 8th save.
Don Dickerson had a key at-bat with one out in the bottom of the fifth for Salt Lake. With the bases loaded and the Bees leading 4-3, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run.
"I felt like I had pretty good command of mostly everything," said Rangel.
The triumph puts Salt Lake at 45-30 for the season.
