The Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Sacramento River Cats, 9-4. Doing his part was third baseman Julio De La Cruz, who went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. António Cruz picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-2. Yu Darvish was tagged with the loss. The Rainiers improved their record to 34-32 with the win over Sacramento.
Greg Jones came through with a big-time hit for Tacoma. The designated hitter smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
De La Cruz told a Tacoma Daily News reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
