The Colorado Springs Sky Sox got a whale of a performance from pitcher Chris Metcalf, but the Salt Lake Bees still prevailed, 9-5, in 11 innings. Metcalf threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. Mike Hess picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-0. Angel Heredia was tagged with the loss. Salt Lake raised its record to 39-25 with the win.

Salt Lake used the timely hitting of Héctor Montoya to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Bees on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We've got a great group of guys," Montoya said, "and we're having fun right now."
