Chihuahuas Go 10 Innings to Beat Colorado Springs, 4-3
|
The El Paso Chihuahuas wiggled past the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 4-3, at Security Service Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of El Paso pitcher Walker Lockett. Michel Deodato got credit for the win, improving to 4-2. He allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 2 innings. The Pacific Conference North Division-leading Chihuahuas have a record of 35-22.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the tenth, with the game tied, Brad Williams was at the plate when El Paso scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Chihuahuas to go in front, 4-3.
"It was a real good effort by Walker," said El Paso manager Andy Hayes. "I loved the way he bore down."
