The Tacoma Rainiers took Nashville pitcher Drew Smyly's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Herschel Greer Stadium. The final score had Tacoma getting past the Sounds, 2-1. Smyly went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 9. The winning pitcher was Dave Evans. He tossed 108 pitches over 5.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits. With the win, Tacoma pushed its record to 19-19.

Bobby Howell, who is tied for 5th in the PC in runs scored with 22, had a direct impact on the outcome. Howell contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put Tacoma up, 2-1.
