Principal Park did not lack for drama.

The Iowa Cubs defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 9-8, at Principal Park. Iowa was led by 25-year old left fielder Eric Stewart, who went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Iowa reliever Alex Ferguson got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Ken Greenwood was tagged with the loss.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Iowa designated hitter Kelvin Dennis, facing Ken Greenwood, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Cubs the 9-8 win.

"It feels good to get this one," Dennis told the Iowa Chronicle.

The Cubs now own a record of 16-19.
