The Nashville Sounds faced a tough opponent in Iowa pitcher Bob Gibson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Principal Park by a final score of 4-3. Gibson went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Nacho Romero, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 6 hits, while walking 5 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 1-1. Bennie Middehof earned the save for Nashville.
Nashville used a clutch at-bat from Micheal Harden to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Sounds ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"I just tried to make good contact," said Harden.
Iowa, with the loss, is 12-16.
