Fresno got a terrific game from shortstop Jim Rivers. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Sacramento, 5-4. Rivers was 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Earning his 6th save for Sacramento was Fernando Perri. The loss puts Fresno at 11-15.

Sacramento took a 5-4 lead on Raúl Orosco's 1st double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Orosco hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Fresno pitcher Bobby Dailey visibly frustrated.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Orosco, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
