In a tight tilt between the Fresno Grizzlies and the Tacoma Rainiers, Bob Bell was the deciding factor. The Fresno right-hander spearheaded the 3-1 win. In 8 innings, Bell surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed no runs. Jon Steele recorded his 6th save for Fresno.

Bob Petersen had a big run-scoring double for the Grizzlies in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Fresno leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Michael Wacha and swatted a double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Grizzlies ahead, 2-0.

Bell attributed the win to "an all-around good team performance."

The loss drops Tacoma to 10-10.
