The Colorado Springs Sky Sox downed the Tacoma Rainiers, 8-1, at Security Service Field. Stellar pitching by Berto Amoyo had a lot to do with it. The right-hander handcuffed his opponent all game. The winner was Amoyo. He threw 8.1 innings allowing 1 run. The loser was António Cruz. Tacoma, with the loss, is still a stout 3-1.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the sixth inning, but Amoyo was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and Tacoma trailing 2-0, Amoyo retired Ken Collins, who grounded out.
