The Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Colorado Springs Sky Sox, 5-3, at Security Service Field. Tacoma was led by 27-year old left fielder Ken Carr, who hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Greg Page picked up the win with 6.2 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 1-0. Doug Bannatyne earned the save for Tacoma, his 2nd.
Early in the game, Carr had a 3-run home run for Tacoma. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Rainiers on top, 3-0.
Tacoma manager Mario Garza praised his team's "businesslike approach."
The Rainiers, now 3-0, have stormed out of the gates.
