Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Sacramento River Cats were eager to watch Esteban Correa square off against Carl Howe of the visiting Reno Aces. In the end, the River Cats won the game, 6-4, with Esteban Correa leading the way. Sacramento reliever Bob Carter was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Carl Howe took the loss for Reno.
Sacramento first baseman Edgardo Quiñones helped the River Cats go up, 5-4, in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the game tied, Quiñones hit a run-scoring single off Reno pitcher Carl Howe.
