The New Britain Rock Cats defeated the Binghamton Mets, 9-8. Shortstop Kevin Jackson deserved a large share of the credit. Jackson was 2-3 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs for the Rock Cats. New Britain reliever Alan Parker got the win, raising his record to 3-0. Gil Cayley was tagged with the loss. With the victory, the Rock Cats upped their record to 30-23.

In the bottom of the third, New Britain second baseman Luis Pérez had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Pérez stroked a run-scoring single to right-center. It made the score 5-3, New Britain. For the game, he went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Binghamton manager Lee Tinsley. "But we decided not to take it."
