Sea Dogs third baseman José Puente left his imprint on his team's 9-7 win over the Akron RubberDucks. Puente went 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times for Portland in the contest. Dave Lavington, now 1-4, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Akron.

Portland used a timely hit from Phil MacRorie to get the win. The catcher stroked a 2-run double in the top of the 11th inning to put the Sea Dogs ahead, 9-7. It was his only hit in 6 at-bats, but it made an impact.

"Our team showed some spunk," said MacRorie.
