The Erie SeaWolves got a superb performance from pitcher Jon Reed, but the Reading Fightin Phils still won the game, 8-4. Reed threw 6.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner in relief was Baltesar Covilh. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 3 innings. He now owns a record of 2-2. After today's action, Reading sits at 23-25, while Erie falls to 31-18.

The Fightin Phils beat the SeaWolves in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Johnathan Santos produced in the bottom of the seventh. Batting against Jesús Árias, Santos gave his team the lead, 5-3, when he hit a 2-run single.
