Trenton and New Britain duked it out and the Thunder came out victorious.
In a tight game between the Trenton Thunder and the New Britain Rock Cats, pitcher Matt Tenuta was terrific on the mound. The Trenton left-hander helped his team to the 3-1 win. Tenuta, now 6-1, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 run. Luis C. Gonzalez finished to wrap up his 10th save.
The Thunder got a big at-bat from left fielder Ben McCabe. For the game, McCabe was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the second, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Trenton a 3-1 lead.
In postgame remarks, McCabe said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
The win lifted the Trenton record to 29-20.
