					| Mariners Drop Cardinals, 3-2 |
					| In a low-scoring affair between the Seattle Mariners and the St. Louis Cardinals, pitcher Al Lockhart was the difference between victory and defeat. The Seattle right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Mariners win. Lockhart yielded 2 runs over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 0, and struck out 8. His record improves to 11-10. Eddie Muggleston converted his 37th save in 44 tries.
The Mariners got a big at-bat from catcher Jed Bly. For the game, Bly went 2 for 3 with 2 doubles, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 12th double of the season gave Seattle a 3-2 lead.

"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," St. Louis manager Ty Van Burkleo said, following the tough loss.
