Twins Lose to White Sox, 3-1
|
Starting pitcher José Castaneda had a solid game. He was a big reason the Chicago White Sox throttled the Minnesota Twins, 3-1. The winning pitcher was Castaneda, now 7-10. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 8. Steve Peters was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 20 of 26 save opportunities.
Yeltsin Gudino had a big run-scoring triple for the White Sox in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Chicago leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from 27-year old left-handed pitcher Dave Weaver and swatted a triple to right-center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the White Sox ahead, 3-1.
"From pitch one to the last pitch, José was aggressive," said Chicago manager Fredi Gonzalez.
Minnesota's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
