The Portland Sea Dogs got a superb performance from pitcher Henderson Alvarez, but the Richmond Flying Squirrels still won the game, 4-3. Alvarez threw 8.0 innings of 7-hit ball. The win was credited to Manny Reyes in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Dave Lavington took the loss. After today's action, Richmond sits at 18-24, while Portland falls to 21-21.

José Sánchez was the walk-off hero for Richmond. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Flying Squirrels pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"That was a good game -- all the way through," said Sánchez.
