Flying Squirrels Slip Past Erie, 2-1
The Richmond Flying Squirrels beat the Erie SeaWolves, 2-1, at Senator Thomas J. Dodd Memorial Stadium. Starting pitcher Pat Bryant was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Bob Gordon closed it out for Richmond, earning his 1st save. The Flying Squirrels bumped their record to 17-16 with this latest triumph.

Richmond took a 2-1 lead on Manny Gómez's 3rd double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Gómez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Erie pitcher Cisco Domínguez visibly frustrated.

"The old adage is true," said Bryant. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
