Fisher Cats Continue Skid, Thanks to Mathis, Baysox
Behind the hitting of Gil Mathis, the Bowie Baysox defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 9-5. Mathis went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Baysox. Geoff Stewart recorded the save, his 1st. The first-place Fisher Cats have lost 4 consecutive games.

With Bowie trailing 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Mathis hit a 2-run single off New Hampshire hurler Williams Mendoza. It was the 24th hit of the season for Mathis and put his team ahead, 2-1.

"I felt good up there," said Mathis. "I saw the ball well."
