Erie SeaWolves starter Dave Johnson found his groove in his team's 3-1 win over the Richmond Flying Squirrels. Chuck Parsons earned the save for Erie. Erie has now won 13 straight.

Erie used the timely hitting of Jim Bruce to capture the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the SeaWolves on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

"Anyone who says he's not out there thinking about personal accomplishments is not telling the truth," Bruce said later.
