The Portland Sea Dogs topped the New Britain Rock Cats, 5-2, in Eastern League action at Hadlock Field. The standout performance belonged to Portland pitcher and Montellano, Dominican Republic, native António González. The winning pitcher was González, now 5-2. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 9. Dave Lavington recorded the save for Portland, his 7th of the season.

Bob Davis, who is tied for 2nd in the EL in triples with 2, helped out the Portland cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the center fielder was 1-4.

Portland manager Stu Cole was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys played hard, they played all the way through," he said.

Portland raised its record to 16-15 with the win.
