When the Clinton LumberKings needed it most, Jesús Campos was at his best.

In trouble in the Round 2, the LumberKings got a boost from the left-handed Campos in Game 5. He bewildered the series-leading South Bend Cubs, leading his club to the 2-1 victory. Campos threw 8.0 innings of shutout ball in the win at Stanley Coveleski Regional Stadium. With it, Clinton cut South Bend's lead to 3-2 in the best-of-7 series.

Campos allowed no runs over 8 innings. He also racked up 12 strikeouts.

"Tough loss," said South Bend manager Mike Brumley. "Tough one to swallow."

The next game is set to be played for Friday, September 26th , 2025 at Alliant Energy Field in Clinton.
