A big day at the plate from right fielder Ed English was not enough to keep the Detroit (GCL) Tigers from extending their lead in the Round 3. The Tigers topped English and the Boston (GCL) Red Sox 12-6 at JetBlue Park today in Game 2, and now hold a 2-0 edge in the best-of-7 series. English was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 in the loss.

Detroit (GCL) relied on the bat of Don Nealon to get the win. The catcher ripped a grand slam home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Tigers ahead, 11-2. For the game, Nealon had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.

Nealon said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."

Game 3 is scheduled for Tuesday at Joker Marchant Stadium.
