Sand Gnats Clip BlueClaws 5-4 in R2 Contest
The Savannah Sand Gnats have closed some of the gap between themselves and the series-leading Lakewood BlueClaws, winning 5-4 at First Energy Park today. Sand Gnats left-hander Caleb Nix threw 8.0 innings allowing 3 runs. The win cuts the deficit facing the Sand Gnats to 3-2 in the best-of-7 Round 2.

Savannah relied on the bat of Héctor Cabrera to get the win. The right fielder ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Sand Gnats ahead, 3-1. For the game, Cabrera had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.

"I thought I'd have a season or two to get accustomed to everything," Cabrera said. "I didn't think I'd be here already."

Game 6 is scheduled for Friday at Grayson Stadium in Savannah.
