Tigers Rally Past Rays to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
|
The Detroit (GCL) Tigers started the Round 2 in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the Tampa Bay (GCL) Rays in a walk-off. Detroit (GCL) won 2-1 behind a good day from starter Greg Carr. The left-hander threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball in the win, which gave the Tigers a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-7 series.
Mike Walker was the walk-off hero for Detroit (GCL). With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Tigers pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"This place was electric at the end," Walker said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Thursday, September 14th , 2023.
