Lópes, Royals Wallop Pirates in Game 2 of R1
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of first baseman Greg Lópes, the Burlington Royals stopped the visiting Bristol Pirates, 6-1, in Game 2 of the Round 1 today. Lópes went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Royals, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 0.
With the clubs tied 1-1 in the bottom of the eighth and runners on 1st and 2nd, first baseman Lópes hit a 3-run home run.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Lópes told the Burlington Today. "It's as simple as that."
Game 3 is scheduled for Wednesday at Devault Memorial Stadium in Bristol.
