Depending on your loyalties, the Round 1 was either thrilling or heartbreaking.

The series went down to its final game, with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans and the Salem Red Sox giving their fans plenty of drama. In the end, the Pelicans came out on top, winning 6-5 at Salem Memorial Baseball Stadium today to take the series 3-2.

"We're lucky to be going into the Round 2," said Myrtle Beach pitcher Mike Allen. "If all the series are like this, it'll definitely be an entertaining postseason."

Allen earned series MVP honors, hitting for a .318 average, with 0 home runs, 0 RBI and 6 runs scored.

The Myrtle Beach Pelicans will play against the Frederick Keys in the next round. Frederick won their series against the Wilmington Blue Rocks 3 games to 1. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
