The Oakland (DSL) Athletics defeated the Detroit (DSL) Tigers, 6-3, in Dominican Rookie League action at Juan Marichal Complex. Oakland (DSL) pitcher Bob Jones had a standout performance. Stan Poe was called on to finish, recording his 11th save. Oakland (DSL) is 30-36 and Detroit (DSL), with the loss, 42-24.

Vince Scott had a big grand slam home run for the Athletics in the bottom of the third inning. With Oakland (DSL) leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from José Ruíz and swatted a home run to right. It was his 3rd home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Athletics ahead, 5-0.

Said losing manager Hisashi Iwakuma: "We just didn't get it done tonight."
