The rain came, as predicted, but the Atlanta (DSL) Firebirds and Colorado (DSL) Rockies were able to complete their ballgame.
Behind a fine performance from José García, the Atlanta (DSL) Firebirds knocked off the Colorado (DSL) Rockies, 6-2. García went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for the Firebirds. Bob McCarty, who went 9 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 4-0.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Bob Anderson? The Atlanta (DSL) right fielder had a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Firebirds on top, 2-1. For the game, Anderson had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
