Pittsburgh (DSL) wasted a solid 6.2-inning effort from starting pitcher Mike James, losing to Minnesota (DSL), 2-1, at Pittsburgh Pirates Complex. José Fernández, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-4. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 0.2 innings. Luis Gómez picked up the save, his 2nd.

Minnesota (DSL) used the timely hitting of Bobby Hamilton to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Twins on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"The object of the game is to score more runs than they do," said Hamilton. "Mission accomplished."

With the win, Minnesota (DSL) pushed its record to 28-27.
