Tight Tilt Goes to Cubs, 4-3
|
In a close game at Baseball City Complex, the Chicago N (DSL) Cubs edged the Texas 2 (DSL) Rangers 2, 4-3. Chicago N (DSL) center fielder Israel Menéndez stood apart with his performance. He went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs. Randy Nelson earned save number 1 this season. The loss makes Texas 2 (DSL) 23-31.
The Cubs got a big at-bat from shortstop Don Burns. For the game, Burns went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 13th double of the season gave Chicago N (DSL) a 3-0 lead.
"Bottom line," said Texas 2 (DSL) skipper Kieran Mattison, "we didn't play well enough to win."
