The Boston (DSL) Red Sox had to overcome a good performance from Washington (DSL) pitcher Chris González to claim a 3-1 win at Las Américas Complex. González went 5 innings and allowed 1 run. The win belongs to Gene Cross in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Tony Sandoval took the loss for Washington (DSL). Dave Lavington finished to wrap up his 5th save.

Boston (DSL) used the timely hitting of Steve Green to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"When you think about it," Green said, "there's often a fine line between triumph and tragedy. One pitch, one swing of the bat can make all the difference."
