The rain came, as predicted, but the DSL Tigers and DSL Rockies were able to complete their ballgame.
The DSL Tigers withstood a fine game by DSL third baseman Raúl Ruíz at Detroit Tigers Complex, to upend the Rockies, 6-4. Ruíz belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win went to Augusto Guzmán in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Iván Rodríguez took the loss. Earning his 1st save of the year was Ángelo Guerrero.
The Tigers got a big at-bat from designated hitter Octávio Velásquez. For the game, Velásquez went 1 for 3 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave DSL a 3-2 lead.
"We ground out the win," said Velásquez. "That's all that matters."
DSL has now won 3 in a row.
