The Washington (DSL) Nationals had to overcome a big game from San Diego (DSL) left fielder Pancho González to leave Las Américas Complex with a victory. And they did, winning, 10-8. González was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Washington (DSL) reliever Rob Raines picked up the win, while Ron Whelan took the loss for San Diego (DSL). The Padres, now 9-28, have lost 8 in a row.

The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Joe Farley came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing San Diego (DSL) pitcher Ron Whelan, he hit a 2-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Washington (DSL) on top, 9-8.
